Rise explores the region of Oatlands, from the rolling hills to the wetlands. It features calming, smooth lines and textured mark-making on the external courtyard and windows, along with bright pops of color and imagery of the local birdlife on the internal courtyard. The external courtyard walls depict abstracted vistas of the Oatlands area through elevations of the local hillscapes. Each section of the flowing landscape captures different patterns, textures, and colours, using mark-making to visually interpret the people and agriculture of the area. The artwork provides a perspective of looking beyond the Ambulance Station into the landscape, with the color palette reflecting the mood of sunrise/sunset The internal courtyard depicts the birds of Lake Dulverton and the area; Wedgetailed eagle, New Holland Honeyeater, White faced Heron, Black Swan, Lathams snipe, Great crested Grebe, Musk Duck and Superb Fairy Wren pair. These are a selection of endangered, threatened, and common endemic birds from the region. This artwork encourages staff and the community to take a moment to pause, breathe deeply, and then continue with their day. By exploring the themes of place through the hills and local bird life, and the interplay of color and texture, these works will bring cohesion to the space, a sense of wonder and interest, and positive well-being.
